It’s been a little while between blog posts! We quietened down while our horses enjoyed winter spells, but now they’re all back in work! Here’s the latest!

In our last post, we mentioned that Shuriken was back in work and in pre-training with Ben O’Farrell. This week, the Wilde Racing team moved him back to Warrnambool to continue his preparation there.

The gelding has built a solid fitness base over the past seven weeks, which will serve him well as his workload increases in Warrnambool. Ben says he has displayed a great attitude towards everything he’s asked him to do.

Paulartes has been back in work for about five weeks! She’s in pre-training at the moment at Wilde Racing’s Ballarat stable.

The filly enjoyed an extended break, so she started this preparation well-rested and in excellent condition. In their latest update, the Wilde Racing team commented, “The team could not be happier with her condition and overall wellbeing,” which will improve again as we move out of winter and into spring. It seems she has also come back a more level headed filly, relaxing well into her work.

Like Shuriken, Paulartes will build a fitness base at Ballarat before the team move her back to the Warrnambool stable to continue her preparation.

After spelling for eight weeks, our Harry Angel x Catskill Roc colt has made great progress in his physical development. He’s added size and filled out nicely. So much so that he has commenced his first educational preparation at Ben O’Farrell’s, near Geelong!

An educational preparation is all about brushing up on what the horse learnt during their breaking preparation and then adding extra layers of the training process at a pace that compliments the horse. How long the colt remains in work will depend on how he copes, both mentally and physically.
