Introducing Toward Reward’s 2025 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale purchase, a strapping chestnut gelding by KERMADEC (NZ). This horse was secured for an absolute steal at just $60K out of the MB Thoroughbreds draft and is a fantastic new addition to the TR team.
This well-balanced and very attractive gelding really struck the eye of the team at TR and our bloodstock agent, Lenny Russo of Bluegrass Bloodstock, and is set to be trained by Emma-Lee & David Browne of Sparta Racing. Lenny has only ever had the two Kermadec’s make his final shortlist prior to this one, and they were G1 winners TUVALU and MONTEFILIA! This horse has 2YO written all over him, being out of the Listed 2YO St Albans Stakes winner, EXCEEDINGLY FRENCH, and half to the 2YO VOBIS Gold Elvstroem Classic winner, LA FALAISE.
He is bred on the same exceptional cross as G1 Toorak Handicap winner TUVALU, and a whopping 20% stakes-winners to starters, including dual G1-winning Champion 2YO and recent Arrowfield Stud acquisition VANDEEK (GB), and recent Listed La Teste Stakes winner HOLGUIN (GB).
He showed his class in his first jump at Pakenham over 800M on December 16th, overcoming a 5L deficit after a slow start to finish 3rd, just off the heels of the winner. He was unlucky not to win his heat when losing momentum in a crucial stage as the horse ahead veered under pressure. We then opted for another jump out two weeks later to round out the educational phase of his racing career, tasked with educating him to run amongst horses, and to ask for an effort in the final 200M where he again showed his stylish turn of foot and motored home late. He is currently in the paddock for a short break before his long-awaited return to into the Pakenham stable.
Nominated and paid up for the rich $12.5M Inglis Race Series, Inglis Xtra Maiden Bonuses, VOBIS Silver, VOBIS Gold, VOBIS Platinum, and is eligible for the VOBIS Sires $1M 2YO Showdown & $500K 3YO Guineas!
Trained by the winners of the 2025 $1M VOBIS Showdown with Mcgaw, Emma-Lee & David Browne of Sparta Racing!
