Statuario ticked off the 2400M box in dominant style in the $200K Listed Elvis Thurgood Galilee Series Final at Caulfield on Saturday 5 April.
He was very well-placed and well-prepared by his trainers, Emma-Lee and David Browne, and received the perfect ride first time at the trip from jockey John Allen, landing him in the 1-1, unlocking the horse’s blistering turn of foot at the turn of the straight, and taking care of him late for a commanding victory. Now that he has ticked that box, the dream is to now head to a Derby, with the $1M G1 South Australian Derby, and $1M G1 Queensland Derby, both on the table.
The win was an emotional one for the team at TR, securing our first stakes victory in our colours, after three previous placings at group and listed level.
