The sales season was off to a cracking start for Toward Reward this year! We attended the Sydney Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in February and the Melbourne Inglis Premier Sale in March and picked up a filly and colt at each! Meet our new recruits!
Pierata x So Far Sokool filly
At the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, we secured lot 80, an athletic, well-balanced PIERATA x SO FAR SOKOOL filly, for just $50k!
PIERATA needs no introduction as a nine-time winner, including the G1 ATC All Aged Stakes. The sire has secured over $5.8m in prize money, and his first crop yearlings have sold for upwards of $800k!
SO FAR SOKOOL is a three-time winner, including the 2018 Listed Bendigo Guineas!
We selected the filly in partnership with Lenny Russo of Bluegrass Bloodstock, who rated her highly. And she will be trained by Patrick Kearney on course at Ballarat, where she will have every chance of success.
The filly has already completed her education process and is enjoying a well-earned spell. We’re really pleased with how she’s tackled everything and look forward to her first preparation!
Supido x Beg colt
We also secured lot 742 in Sydney, an impressive SUPIDO x BEG colt, for just $45k!
SUPIDO is the fastest son of SEBRING. His oldest progeny are now 3YOs, including the Listed Poseidon Stakes winner BUENOS NOCHES.
BEG was a handy racehorse, winning three times, including once as a 2YO. She has had four foals race for three winners.
We selected the colt in partnership with Lenny Russo, and like our Pierata filly, Patrick Kearney will train him on course at Ballarat.
The colt enjoyed an eight-week post-sale spell and will commence his education process in the coming days! Being a November foal, we were happy to give him more time to grow and develop.
Followers of Shuriken will want to keep a close eye on this colt! He has an A++ TrueNicks rating, just like Shuriken. Of the three colts bred on the same cross, all three are race winners, and two are stakes winners PANCHO and DAYTONA RED.
Magnus x Desert Pegasus filly
Our first Inglis Premier Sale purchase was lot 730, a stunning chestnut MAGNUS x DESERT PEGASUS filly, at just 40k!
MAGNUS is the sire of four individual G1 winners, including the Darley Classic winner and winner of over $1.8m+ in prizemoney, MALAGUERRA!
The dam, Desert Pegasus, sure knows how to throw a winner, having already amassed six foals to race for five individual winners and a combined 17 race wins! Four from four when she throws a filly!
We selected the filly in partnership with Lenny Russo and G1-winning trainers Emma Lee and David Browne of Sparta Racing, who will train both of our Premier Sale purchases out of their Cranbourne stables! What a team! And if anyone knows how to pick a good Magnus, it’s Lenny. He selected MALAGUERRA for just $32k at the 2013 Inglis Vobis Gold Yearling Sale!
The filly has just entered week four of her education process and, by all reports, has been ticking all the right boxes. She is looking every part the 2YO type!
U S Navy Flag x Entirely Saintly colt
Last but not least, we also secured lot 405 in Melbourne, a magnificent U S NAVY FLAG x ENTIRELY SAINTLY colt, for a steal at $80k!
U S NAVY FLAG was a two-time G1 winner at two and winner of the G1 July Cup at three. He is already a sire of European 2YO stakes winners, including OCEAN VISION and LOVE REIGNS! His oldest northern hemisphere progeny are 3YOs, oldest southern hemisphere are 2YOs, and his yearlings have sold for up to $340k!
The colt is out of the proven stakes-producing PENTIRE (GB) mare, ENTIRELY SAINTLY! She is the dam of 2YO winner and G2 Moonee Valley Stutt Stakes winner THE HOLY ONE, who sadly suffered a career-ending injury before we saw him at his best.
Like our Magnus filly, we selected the colt in partnership with Lenny Russo and his trainers, Emma Lee and David Browne of Sparta Racing. He is also in week four of his education process and is going super!
